New AoD Comic sequel

(I'm gonna post this also on the Comic Book Tribe)

I just picked this up over the weekend. POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

I gave it a read through and mostly liked it. A lot of dialogue was lifted from the films and the story moved along pretty quickly but pretty soon the flaw of the premise became way too obvious (and I know I shouldn't think about these things too hard, but this just doesn't fly).

After Ash goes to sleep at the end of AoD, he leaves the cave and goes back to his job at S-Mart, right? This comic says that he woke up a couple days too soon and is at S-Mart (at the end of AoD) before the events of Evil Dead 2 even take place, and needs to help his other self against the demons. SO there are two Ashes running around. Both at S-Mart. One with a metal hand.

My problem is that SOMEHOW Ash got from the cave in ENGLAND back to the S-Mart in MICHIGAN and never saw he was earlier than he expected. Ash's incompetence only goes so far, and someone at S-Mart would have to notice two Ash's reporting for the same shift.

Fine, I'm nit-picking, but the films had their own internal logic that they followed. This story is faulty from the very beginning. It's feeling like the second Back to the Future film which is far from a classic. Believe me I'd like another great Ash story, but so far this isn't it.

OK Frank, let's think about this -- starting with Ash going from Britian to Michigan. It's obvious this is continential drift. Personally, while slow, I think it's one of the better ways to travel -- hell, you can get around more quickly this way than you can trying to redeem frequent flyer miles.

About the 2 Ash thing @ work... to me that doesn't work either -- I just don't think it's the best move for an Ash story... I can see where if he got back early there'd be 2 and blah blah blah, but I think it's weak. The other thing that's F'edUP is that likely the SMart manager would probably be pleased as peas -- double the work out of Ash, and only one time card. The Ashs should unionize, and negotiate for a better Ash contract.

I also just fail to see how it would make sense that Ash is going along, ho hum w/ 2 normal hands working the ol' 'Shop smart, shop S-Mart' boogie, and an Ash with a metal hand shows up to his life/work/whatever to help him fight the deamons in ED2 that 2-normal-hands-Ash is about to go off on during ED2... UNLESS that would be the 4th installment of the overall story line. Of course, it doesn't even make a whole hell of a lot of sense to me or much of anyone as to why Ash would go back to the cabin for ED2 after experienceing ED1... but then maybe I'm not quite enough of a fan to have gotten other people's buzz as to why he'd do that or that ED1 didn't exist in some transidental BS alternatate dimentional time flux dead-tech yah-yah to make ED2.

To me, this is a better idea... and of course, I'm biased as it's my idea (tho perhaps parallel to someone else's idea). ED1 occurs. (ED1.5 is put out by MicroSoft where Ash fights the Deadites, Freddy, Jason, but it was crap and never made it off the cutting room floor -- JK -- LOL) For no good reason, Ash returns to the cabin for more abuse in ED2. End of ED2/Beginning of AOD, Ash gets sent to AOD.

    OK, this we all know....

Take the ending to AOD that was released w/ the film where he goes into the cave and sleeps until his own time somehow traveling from England to Michigan that is yet to be explained.... he faces the Deadite chick in the store "Ma'am, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave/Come get some/etc". SO, this is where ED4/AOD2 begins..... and Ash, fights The Armies Of The Dead in his own time, not at the cabin, but in the city, maybe somehow using the Necronamican(sp?) to bring some of the 2 knight armies from the past for a little Ash leads the knights reunion -- typical part 2 of a film (making the AOD2 part of things). At the end of this flick, maybe the knights are sent back to their time and region of the planet (HA, or back in time, but still in Michigan -- oops! -- HA!), and for some reason, it is decided that Ash will go back to sleep if he is ever needed to fight the Dead again in the future... tho OF COURSE it seems that the (not grateful) Dead are dead. Now, the original ending of AOD happens, where Ash goes to sleep and wakes up in a post-massive-destruction-apoliptical future, to fight the Dead for (the final?) time all Mad Max style.

To me, this works.... and ya get 2 more stories/films out of it over one. And, in the spirit of cheese and camp, drawing it out more and more, hey, this adds to it.

If Campbell, Raimi, and their people want to contact me for the rights to these ideas, they know where to find me. Besides, Bruce and I have already chatted a little -- we're already familiar -- I asked him about using some samples from ED2&AOD on my current album-in-the-works.

From Britain to Michigan: Continental drift can't work. Not in about 700 years. The distance the continents would drift in 700 years would only be a couple feet, at the most. It would take millions and millions and millions of years for anything like what you propose happens. Anyone that studied Earth Science or Geology can tell you that continental drift/plate tectonics takes millions of years to be noticed, not hundreds.

Okay, here's my comic book idea that is much better than the story you have told us about:

The video games have taken place, kind of like unofficial sequels.

It is some time after Ash has been sent back in time to ancient Japan. He has finally managed to find the correct spell to get him back to his own place and time (or so it appears), and this time he even pronounces the words correctly. This is where things get really weird: he returns to find that he has accidentally altered the past (again) and it's like the events in the video games never happened. He has a new girlfriend, a nice house having been promoted to general manager at S-Mart, and news that there is a little Ash on the way. Life couldn't be better.

Except...The creature that has taken his face and form so many times has returned, sans body, and it needs a new one to enter the world. Guess who the unlucky contestant is? If you said Ash's unborn child, I'm sorry but the answer had to be in the form of a question so you don't get any prize. But it IS the unborn rugrat Evil Ash wants for his new body.

Evil Ash dredges up some old Deadite pals to kidnap momma-to-be, Ash must solve a mystical puzzle to unlock the secret of summoning a "Chosen Warrior" to combat the Deadite hordes who have taken over the town, and fight his nemesis to the death. Again. And...again. And...again.

The snag: Ash has only three hours to do all of this. Otherwise, he'll be stuck with one dead girlfriend, a whole town full of Deadites and a pile of REEEEEAALLY nasty diapers to pick up for the next three or four years.
